Legacy power distribution units are 12 V units, but modern distribution components work at 48 V. The industry has been waiting for power components to enable the integration of those legacy components to the modern 48 V power devices. Now, the wait is over.
This week, Vicor Corporation announced the manufacturing of a new Non-isolated Bus Converter Module (NBM) that converts 12 V to 48 V with an over 98 percent peak efficiency and delivering 750 W. With the capability to convert up to 800 W continuously, the NBM2317 was designed to support high-performance components, such as the popular Power-on-Package 48 V GPUs.
Some Important Features:
- The 2317 NBM delivers outstanding power density
- Converts 48 V to 12 V and 12 V to 48 V
- Low profile packaging (23 x 17 x 7.4 mm) on a surface-mount SM-ChiP with dual side cooling
- Fast transient response, allowing the chip to respond to rapid changes in current demand by modern GPUs and for multiple loads
