Spansion Inks Distribution Deal with Excelpoint

13 March 2014

Asian distributor Excelpoint Technology Ltd. will sell Spansion flash memory, analog and mixed-signal products under a new distribution agreement.

Excelpoint, based in Singapore, will distribute Spansion’s semiconductors in Northeast Asia, including Hong Kong and China, and in Southeast Asian markets, the companies said.

Excelpoint is based in Singapore and sells semiconductors and other components and provides design and supply chain services to OEMs, ODMs and electronic manufacturing services (EMS) providers in Asia. It has three research and development centers in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Singapore and has facilities across the Asia-Pacific region, including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, China and India, among other countries.

“Excelpoint's strong technical team and design-in capabilities will help bring added value to our customers," said Jon Fox, vice president of channel sales and marketing for Spansion, headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif. b

Many of Spansion’s semiconductors are aimed at the industrial, automotive and consumer electronics equipment segments. Spansion’s NOR flash products are based on its proprietary MirrorBit Charge Trap technology. Last year, Spansion introduced embedded Charge Trap flash memory technology, which delivers high performance and low power and is optimized for integration with advanced logic process in system-on-chip products.

Albert Phuay, chairman and group CEO of Excelpoint, said his company’s partnership with Spansion will “bring us closer to our aim to make Excelpoint a one-stop solution provider to our customers." b
