MEMSIC Ships 1 Billionth MEMS Device

12 May 2016

Thermal microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) vendor MEMSIC is touting the shipment of its one billionth product. The company's products range from accelerometers to inertial guidance systems.

MEMSIC manufactures MEMS for use in applications such as automotive safety systems, avionics, industrial controls and consumer electronics. The company also has a line of monolithic accelerometers that combine both the MEMS sensor and signal-processing circuitry on the same CMOS die.

Monolithic MEMS have no moving parts or resonance error, allowing for shock and vibration tolerance as well as a high reliability. This is important for designers who are creating applications for the automotive, construction and UAV markets, as well as those markets where ruggedness is needed.

MEMSIC’s portfolio of MEMS also includes anisotropic magneto-resistive magnetic sensor technology that integrates a three-axis magnetic sensor plus signal-processing circuitry in a small form factor. These MEMS are used in electronic products that require low noise and a high precision.
