Infineon Expands 200 V Driver IC Portfolio

07 December 2015

Infineon Technologies AG has expanded its 200 V driver IC portfolio with the addition of IRS2005(S, M) for high voltage, high speed IGBTs and power MOSFETs. As new member of the IRS200x family, the IRS2005 (S,M) is designed for low-voltage (24 V, 36 V, and 48 V) and mid-voltage (60 V, 80 V, and 100 V) motor drive applications with stringent space constraints, such as electric garden equipment, golf carts, power tools and mobility scooters.

SOIC-8 is an optional package.SOIC-8 is an optional package.

It utilizes Infineon’s proven, robust high-voltage junction isolation (HVJI) technology to realize small packages while remaining tolerant to negative transient voltages. Consequently, the new driver comes in several packages, which include 8-lead SOIC, 8-pin DIP and 14-lead MLPQ packages.

With addition of IRS2005, the IRS200x family now comprises six devices with a typical sink current of 600 mA and source current of 290 mA. The new 200 V driver is compatible to 3.3 V, 5 V, and 15 V input logic and offers undervoltage lockout (UVLO) for VCC and VBS, which is designed to improve system reliability. Furthermore, like the others, it is designed for use with bootstrap power supplies, which eliminates the need for large and expensive auxiliary power supplies typically needed in discrete opto-coupler or transformer based designs. All the members of the IRS200x family feature low quiescent currents.

Also, according to the supplier, drivers IRS2003 and IRS2004 include integrated dead-time and shoot-through protection. The IRS2004 also features a shutdown input pin.

Production samples of the IRS200x devices are now available.
