January Sales Rise for Foundry Pair

10 February 2014

January 2014 sales at leading chip foundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSMC) were NT$51.43 billion (about $1.70 billion), an increase of 3.5 percent from December 2013 and up 8.4 percent over January 2013.

Although the annual increase was down from the 33.7 percent jump seen December 2013 over December 2012 it still indicates a good start to the year as the Chinese New Year fell in January in 2014 serving the inhibit January and boost February sales compared with a year before.

UMC's January consolidated sales were NT$10.06 billion (about $330 million), up 1.6 percent compared with December and up 6.5 percent compared with January 2013.
