TSMC's Sales Dip in May

May sales at foundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (Hsinchu, Taiwan) dipped by 1.8 percent from April 2014 to NT$60.79 billion (about US$2.03 billion) but were up 17.4 percent over May 2013. For the first five months of the year TSMC's sales were NT$270.89 billion (about $9.03 billion), an increase of 15.5 percent compared to the same period in 2013.

Sales at rival foundry United Microelectronics Corp. (Hsinchu, Taiwan) were NT$11.93 billion (about $398 million), up 3.5 percent from the previous month and up 9.8 percent compared with May 2013. UMC's year-to-date sales were NT$55.15 billion (about $1.84 billion), up 12.7 percent on the first five months of 2013.
