PPTC: Compact protection for maximum reliability

01 July 2026

The new PPTC series PFTA, PFTB, PFTC and PFTL from SCHURTER provide reliable resettable overcurrent and overtemperature protection for modern electronic applications. In the event of a fault, the polymer positive temperature coefficient (PTC) device automatically increases resistance to effectively protect systems against overloads and short circuits — without replacing fuses. The portfolio includes radial leaded and SMD versions with current ratings from 0.05 A to 5 A and voltage ratings up to 72 V. UL-compliant flame-retardant materials and compatibility with automated assembly processes make these series ideal for industrial high-volume applications.

Applications

Typical applications include energy storage systems, power supplies, industrial electronics, consumer electronics, automotive systems, wearables, SSDs and lithium-ion batteries. The compact PFTL SMD series additionally enables space-saving designs with high integration density.
