At ISC West, Xthings has unveiled two Wi-Fi HaLow long-range camera systems under its Ulticam intelligent vision security camera series.

The Ulticam Long-Range Wireless AI Security Kit and Wireless Long Range 8-camera Bullet Kit + NVR use sub-GHz wireless connectivity to reach distances up to 1 kilometer from a single gateway. This allows the signal to penetrate walls, structures and terrain that Wi-Fi cannot.

Both kits include on-device AI for surveillance and can operate over long-range wireless without any extenders or cables or proprietary networking equipment. Previously, extending video surveillance to remote areas, fences, parking structures and more required either by running cable and conduits or unreliable Wi-Fi mesh networks, Xthings said.

“Every integrator knows the conversation: the customer needs cameras on the back fence line, the detached warehouse, or the far side of the parking lot, and the project stalls because the cabling cost doesn’t pencil out,” said Raj Sundar, senior director of product management at Xthings. “With HaLow, we’re removing that barrier entirely. These systems reach up to a kilometer wirelessly, carry full AI analytics on-device, and include free cloud storage with no subscription fees. For dealers and integrators, that’s a faster install, a cleaner proposal, and a happier customer.”

What is Wi-Fi HaLow?

Wi-Fi HaLow (IEEE 802.11ah) is a standards-based alternative to other connectivity technologies like low power wide area network (LPWAN) technologies, long range (LoRa) or proprietary mesh systems.

Wi-Fi HaLow combines range and power efficiency with bandwidth, IP-native compatibility and scalability for industrial networks.

The technology includes:

  • Over 1 km range
  • Low power consumption
  • Connects to more than 8,000 devices
  • Penetrates walls, foliage and obstacles with sub-GHz frequencies
  • Integrates into existing IT infrastructure
  • WPA3 security

The kits

The Long-Range Wireless AI Security kit and Wireless Long Range 8-camera Bullet kit offer HaLow gateways and camera systems designed to work with Xthings One Station hub.

The AI security kit pairs a HaLow Wi-Fi Gateway with four B25W outdoor bullet cameras that record in 4MP with HDR. The gateway uses sub-GHz wireless coverage up to 1 km from a single point.

Xthings said the kit provides real-time classification of people, vehicles and pets along with a behavior analytics suite with:

  • Intrusion detection
  • Line crossing
  • Region entry and exit monitoring
  • Loitering detection
  • Fire and smoke detection

Meanwhile the 8-camera Bullet kit is a complete surveillance system built for full-site coverage of commercial properties, warehouses, healthcare campuses, office complexes and educational facilities.

The kit includes eight-channel NVR with dual 3.5-inch HDD bays for recording paired with eight weatherproof B2 outdoor bullet cameras that record in up to 4 megapixels with HDR. All the cameras connect via Wi-Fi HaLow to eliminate the need to run cables across a property. It also supports power of Ethernet for hybrid installations.

Each camera includes on-device edge AI for behavior analytics and classification detection for:

  • Intrusion
  • Line crossing
  • Region entrance and exit
  • Loitering
  • Person, vehicle and pet classification

ISC West takes place this week in Las Vegas, Nevada.
