Semtech, Trident IoT form agreement for Z-Wave connectivity

03 March 2026

Semtech Corp. has signed an agreement with Trident IoT that will allow its long range (LoRa) plus transceivers to have royalty-free access to Trident IoT’s software development kit and tools.

The company said the deal will position Semtech as a provider for Z-wave connectivity with development plans that support Zigbee and Thread/Matter.

The goal is to allow developers to progress multiple smart home connectivity standards by integrating Trident IoT’s ElCap development platform and SDK with Semtech’s LoRa Plus family including its LR2021 multi-PHY transceiver. Semtech said this eliminates development fragmentation and accelerates time-to-market for smart home, security and IoT devices.

The deal will be delivered in a phased roll out of protocol support across the LoRa Plus platform like:

  1. Z-Wave — which will be the first protocol released that will deliver secure, low-latency connectivity in smart home applications.
  2. Zigbee and Thread/Matter — these protocols will help cover other protocols in the home and security sectors.
