Wearable robots enter agriculture through Hyundai, Kia collaboration

22 October 2025

Hyundai and Kia are working to develop a wearable shoulder robot for agricultural applications.

The X-ble Shoulder robot, developed by Hyundai and Kia’s Robotics LAB, is designed to reduce strain on workers who are performing heavy shoulder tasks. During field tests of the robot, the device reduced deltoid muscle activation by roughly 22%, based on electromyography (EMG) sensor measurements.

With the wearable, the developers aim to alleviate physical stress and improve safety for farmers.

“Improving safety and efficiency in agricultural fields is a key task for the future of farming. By actively introducing advanced technology through our collaboration with Hyundai Motor and Kia, we aim to help farmers work more safely and healthily while fostering innovation in the agricultural sector,” the developers explained.
