TDK Corp. has unveiled at Sensors Converge 2025 a suite of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), inertial measurement units (IMUs) and ultrasonic time-of-flight (ToF) sensing devices for smart home applications.

The sensing devices are designed for the precise detection of:

  • Presence
  • Proximity
  • Sound
  • Tilt
  • Liquid levels
  • Acceleration
  • Motion

“MEMS sensors are the foundation of the connected smart home,” said Fabio Pasolini, VP and GM of the emerging sensors business at InvenSense, a TDK company. “With our suite of smart home sensing solutions, TDK is uniquely positioned to drive innovation and enhance daily life.”

Specifically, the SmartMotion IMUs are targeted at smart TV remotes and tilt detection in washing machines.

The SmartSonic ultrasonic ToF sensors are targeted at detection for lighting, security cameras and locks. Meanwhile, the SmartSound MEMS microphones are designed for the detection of alarms, smart speakers, intercom and voice-activated controls in smart homes. Finally, TDK has unveiled an angle detection sensing chip for smart door locks.
