Wandercraft, a Paris-based developer of exoskeleton products, has developed a headless humanoid robot for the manufacturing sector.
Calvin is a voice-operated, self-balancing humanoid robot that is capable of taking on industrial tasks that are both painful and non-ergonomic, its developers explained.

Renault Group, which is investing in Wandercraft, will employ Calvin to take over tasks from the company’s factory workers that are non-ergonomic and painful while also improving productivity.
“Renault Group’s investment marks a defining moment for Wandercraft. This partnership will boost our ability to build and scale high-impact, low-cost robotics that improve the everyday lives of real people — whether it’s helping individuals with disabilities walk or supporting industrial workers through automation — on the factory floor, in clinics and at home,” explained a spokesperson from Wandercraft.
In addition to work in the manufacturing sector, Calvin could also be used for medical care as well thanks to the robot’s hands, which can switch to end effectors such as suction cups, grippers and dexterous hands.
