First system-in-package phased array module

07 August 2024

Simplify the design and fabrication of phased array antenna systems with StingArray phased array antenna module from ED2 Corporation.

This system-in-package module integrates 2x2 radiating elements with a Renesas F5288 beamforming half-Source: ED2 CorporationSource: ED2 Corporationduplex transceiver for n257 band applications, minimizes loss and increases output power, delivering effective isotropic radiated power of +37dBm. The core IC has highly flexible gain and phase control on each channel to achieve fine beam steering and gain compensation between radiating channels.

The phased array antenna module includes a standard SPI protocol that operates up to 65 MHz with fast beam switching and fast beam-state loading in the 40° C to 95° C operating temperature range. Power efficiency is improved by the use of very low loss materials and short trace lengths in a device designed for surface-mount technology, enabling automated assembly, higher component density and flexibility in design.

The StingRay is ideal for 5G phased-array antenna system, beam steering, medical and other applications.
