Intel Foundry Services (IFS), the semiconductor manufacturing division of Intel Corp., will fabricate Valens Semiconductor’s MIPI A-PHY chipsets designed for the automotive sector.
The deal continues the collaboration between the companies. Previously, IFS helped develop Valens’ A-PHY device for the automotive market based on Intel’s process technology.
Valens said the collaboration will produce PHY chipsets for in-vehicle high-speed sensor connectivity.
Under the deal, Valens Semiconductor will use Intel’s edge process technology for the second-generation A-PHY chipsets. The process technology will help with cost and power reductions in the chipset family while also achieving high performing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), Valens said.
Additionally, the collaboration will help to boost the vision for chiplet architecture in the automotive industry. This includes the reliance on advanced packaging integration and use of interfaces like UCIe.
