Arduino has introduced the Portenta Hat Carrier, an addition to Arduino Pro to transform the Portenta X8 into an industrial single board computer (SBC) compatible for Raspberry Pi ecosystems.

The hat carrier is also compatible with Portenta H7 and Portenta C33 systems on modules. The carrier board allows any Portenta module to be expanded to multiple peripherals including Raspberry Pi Hat like the Model B 40-pin header, Ethernet, microSD and USB.

The module can be used for prototyping as well as scaling up production. Beyond prototyping, it could also be used for industrial applications, robotic motion controls, intelligence sorting, anomaly detection, vehicle monitoring and smart sensing.

Features include:

  • Dedicated JTAG pins
  • Onboard CAN transceiver
  • 8x analog I/Os
  • PWM fan connector
  • Frictionless Linux prototyping

“Portena Hat Carrier provides a unique bridge between the Arduino and Raspberry Pi® ecosystems, offering professionals a modular platform for prototyping to full-fledged industrial applications,” said Massimo Banzi, Arduino’s co-founder, chairman and CMO.
