Using private LoRaWAN networks for smart building sensor management

02 August 2023

Senet Inc. and ProSentry are collaborating on a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) for private long range wide area networks (LoRaWAN) for smart building solutions.

Senet’s PaaS technology will allow companies such as ProSentry to deploy LoRaWAN gateways that leverage cloud-based managed network services and radio access network (RAN) tools to provision, monitor and manage gateways.

ProSentry’s all-in-one platform provides water and gas leak detection and mechanical and environmental monitoring using a portfolio of standards based on LoRaWAN sensors. With PaaS from Senet, it allows for real-time operational insights and instant alerts are accessible any time, from any mobile device via live operator call, text, email and in-app notifications. This helps to allow companies to make informed decisions and reduce response times to issues before they escalate.

The building monitoring platform supports a wireless connected in-building sensors for the following issues:

  • Water leaks
  • Natural gas leaks
  • Boiler temperature
  • Exhaust fans
  • Temperature/humidity
  • Elevator motion
  • Roof and terrace drain
  • Sump pit water levels
  • Trash container levels
  • Water tank levels
  • Mouse traps
  • Door/window ajar
  • Automatic/remote water shutoff valve
  • Smoking/vaping
  • Water metering

The overall goal is to reduce insurance premiums and repair costs for real estate companies and provide proactive risk mitigation and tenant satisfaction.
