Lidar manufacturers Velodyne and Ouster have completed a merger, creating a company providing lidar sensors to the automotive, industrial, robotics and smart infrastructure markets.
The companies originally agreed to merge in November of last year.
The new merged company will be called Ouster and will retain about 350 employees with its headquarters in San Francisco and offices globally.
The merger will provide:
- Ouster OS and DF series sensors and Velodyne lidar sensors as well as Ouster Gemini and Bluecity software.
- Digital lidar roadmap and software for future devices.
- 173 grant and 504 pending patents.
- Expanded partner ecosystem and distribution channels to accelerate market penetration.
