Japanese aerospace startup SkyDrive will demonstrate its light, compact flying vehicle at the upcoming CES 2022 trade show.

The company’s Model SD-03 flying vehicle and SkyDrive’s new autonomous SD-05 will be demonstrated at the show.

The vehicles are designed to vertically take off and land (VTOL) and are all-electric for door-to-door transportation including for emergency rescue applications. SkyDrive said it recently successfully tested the vehicle for manned flight and is looking to commercialize the aircraft with the Japanese transportation ministry’s acceptance of its certificate application.

“SkyDrive’s emission-free vehicles can quickly take off from and land in your parking lot and helipads atop buildings, making door-to-door air service a realistic choice of daily urban transportation,” said Tomohiro Fukuzawa CEO of SkyDrive.

The all-electric aircraft can only carry one passenger and can travel at 24 to 31 mph with a flight time of 5 to 10 minutes.

CES 2022 takes place in Las Vegas on Jan. 5-8.
