Cygbot’s robot lidar sensor has won a CES Innovation Award, which was announced this week at CES Unveiled in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

What is billed as the world’s first lidar to measure 2D and 3D simultaneously, the lidar is built for robots to detect and recognize various objects while traveling using 3D data and performing the 2D simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithm using only one device.

The company said the robot lidar has no mechanical driving parts and a semi-permanent lifespan with a low operation ratio of less than the light emitting part of scanning lidar.

Cygbot’s new product, CygLidar H2, was released with a higher resolution than the existing CygLidar product that provides accurate measurements.

The CES Innovation Award program is organized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) and the annual award is handed out to consumers, businesses and institutions divided into 28 product categories.

CES 2022 takes place in Las Vegas on Jan. 5-8.
