All-in-one multi-sensor lidar development kit introduced

10 December 2021

An all-in-one lidar deployment kit has been introduced by Seoul Robotics designed to shorten time to deployment of applications that can use object detection, tracking and classification.

The kit includes Seoul’s SENSR perception software that uses deep learning to analyze and understand 3D data as well as lidar sensors and a graphical processing unit. The kit can connect up to eight 32-beam rotating sensors at one time, which allows the capture of surface area of up to 50,000 square meters.

Called Endeavor, the solution is flexible and can mix and match different makes and models of lidar and 3D sensors from different brands. This allows users to customize the kit to specific needs whether it be used for smart cities, intelligent transportation, retail analytics, crowd monitoring, security and more.

Providing all the key components in one solution shortens time to deployment, but the kit also:

  • Contains a centralized computing hardware with multiple network ports, the system does not require any additional hardware to attach multiple sensors.
  • Features Power over Ethernet for both indoor and outdoor locations so it needs no external power supply for lidar sensors.
  • Reduces raw sensor bandwidth by 95%, allowing it to be deployed in rural and urban environments.
  • Customizes at request including a deep learning model and either four or eight port configurations.

Seoul’s SENSR perception software can detect more than 500 objects at one time within a 4 cm radius and up to 200 meters. It can predict objects up to three seconds in advance and is equipped with weather-filtering artificial intelligence that enables it to detect and track fast-moving or partially obstructed objects even in the snow or rain.
