Qualcomm Technologies Inc. has introduced its Snapdragon G3x first generation gaming platform for the future of handheld and game consoles.
The G3x processor can run all Android games, play content from cloud gaming libraries, stream games and more from a home console or PC.
The processor features:
- The Qualcomm Adreno GPU to run games at 144 frames per second and 10-bit HDR for gaming in more than a billion shades of color.
- The Qualcomm FastConnect module featuring Wi-Fi 6 and 6E for low latency and fast upload and download speeds. 5G millimeter wave (mmWave) and sub-6 Ghz will be used for cloud gaming with streaming bandwidth-intensive games from services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming or Steam Remote Play.
- Snapdragon Sound for better quality sound.
- Support from AKSys for touch to controller mapping technology to enable use of built-in controllers across a wide array of games.
- Multi-screen, augmented experience to tether to a mixed reality viewer via USB-C.
Qualcomm has also partnered with Razer, a developer of gaming accessories, to build the first Snapdragon G3x Handheld Gaming Developer Kit. The kit will be used to help developers create new hardware, software and services for gaming based on the Snapdragon G3x processor.
