Avnet has released its XRF16 RFSoC Gen 3 system-on-module (SoM) for use in small footprint, high-speed serial connectivity and real-time processing RF internet of things (IoT) applications.

The XRF16 module and software suite allows for production-ready system development using Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC Gen 3. The module is capable of RF direct conversion of signals with analog bandwidth up to 6 GHz

The module can digitize 16 ADC channels at 2.5 giga-samples per second (GSPS) and generate complex waveforms through 16 DAC channels at 9.85 GSPS. Baseband processing and network interface are accomplished by the integrated quad Arm Cortex-A53 processing subsystem and programmable logic and USB, Gigabit Ethernet and serial UART are included.

The modules can be used by engineers to prototype and develop applications quickly and then move to production with the same hardware. Applications include radar, software-defined radio, beamforming, signal detection and jamming as well as medical imaging applications.
