LeddarTech has launched a new 2D solid-state lidar sensor that is housed in a weatherproof enclosure designed for applications in challenging environments.
Called Leddar Sight, the sensor uses flash illumination to deliver continuous, accurate detection and range of objects and obstacles in its entire field of view without moving parts. The lidar sensor has been tested for shock and vibration to meet commercial and industrial applications requirements and the casing resists dust ingress, immersion and pressurized water streams.
The 2D flash lidar includes detection and measurement capabilities for indoor applications such as industrial automation and various outdoor applications including autonomous navigation, obstacle detection, collision avoidance, precision maneuvering, speed enforcement and automated tolling. This means it could be used in automated shuttles, robotaxis, commercial trucks, buses, industrial vehicles, mobile robotics and intelligent transportation systems.
Other features include 400,000 hours MTBF, which is up to 26 times longer than mechanical lidars, IP67/IP69 rated, impact-resistant enclosure, wide operating temperature range and 100% solid state.
