Axon and Skydio have formed a partnership to offer autonomous drones to law enforcement and emergency responders.
Through Axon Air's unmanned aerial systems (UAS) program, Axon will sell Skydio’s products to public safety officials globally. The two companies will also work on a joint product roadmap in the coming months for future drones to be offered to emergency services.
The partnership will shift how public safety agencies can use small UAS for real-time situational awareness and evidence management or help in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency. Axon’s real-time operations platform allows 911 dispatchers to access live-streamed views from on-the-ground body cameras and drone footage. The drone’s 3D adaptive scanning software, Skydio 3D Scan, also enhances public safety operations by automating scans of crime and accident scenes to create 3D reconstruction models.
The Skydio 2 and Skydio X2 are available for emergency responders and law enforcement with other drones to be offered through Axon Air in the future. The Skydio X2 was selected recently as the drone platform for the Department of Defense and the Federal Government as part of the Defense Innovation Unit’s Blue UAS Program.
