Chinese mobile and consumer electronics vendor TCL has introduced its 20 series lineup of 5G smartphones with improved imaging and battery life at CES 2021.

The TCL 20 5G smartphones are priced at under $365, making it one of the cheapest 5G smartphones on the market. Reducing the price of 5G phones has been a big trend in the final months of 2020 and will be a major focus for mobile device manufacturers moving forward. ABI Research forecasts more than 60% of the 549.3 million 5G smartphones shipped will be priced below $600 as the shift to lower priced tiered phones becomes popularized by cheaper components and the continuing availability of more affordable 5G chipset platforms.

The 20 series features the latest TCL displays and Nxtvision advanced display optimization and camera technology, providing users with better video and image display than the TCL 10 series that debuted last year. The smartphones also include a dedicated display engine combined with artificial intelligence (AI) software for adaptive display features, fewer false touches and TCL’s AI visual enhancement technology.

The smartphones include a 6.67 in FHD display, powered by 8 nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 5G chipset. Smart 5G technology automatically switches between 4G and 5G bands based on coverage area and data use. The camera includes an AI-powered platform for auto-focus and video image stabilization with a 48 megapixel main rear camera.

The 5G 20 series will be available beginning next month.

CES 2021 is all-digital and takes place Jan. 11-14.
