CES 2021: Smart 4D image radar to debut for self-driving cars

22 December 2020

Smart Radar System Inc. is poised to introduce an upgraded version of its sub-1° 4D image radar technology designed to work with autonomous vehicles.

The 4D radar technology is created by a radar target using point clouds and turning it into a 4D image. As it is implemented into an image, the shape is clearly marked. This is unlike 3D image radars, which have no vertical resolution and very few detection points.

While existing radar detection level supports up to 70 meters, Smart Radar System said its system supports up to 350 meters as well as 360° views to monitor surrounding areas by multiple radars including blind spots, which are often difficult to detect.

During CES 2021, Smart Radar System will introduce an upgraded version of its Retina 4D image radar device. The show takes place virtually on Jan. 11-14.
