Fujitsu Components America has introduced a new Bluetooth 5.0 series of wireless radio modules that accommodates 1 Mbps to 3 Mbps to facilitate communication speed with other Bluetooth devices.
The FWM7BTZ61 series is compatible with both Bluetooth low energy (BLE) and legacy Bluetooth classic BR/EDR, allowing designs to choose between the two modes inside one module. The module is powered by Cypress Semiconductor’s CYW20819 system-on-chip and features BLE profile and BR/EDR power class 2 capabilities in a single module. The module also supports Bluetooth 5.0 signature X2 communication.
The FWM7BTZ61 series of Bluetooth 5.0 modules. The series supports a range of operating voltages from 1.71 V to 3.63 V for various system design and power supply conditions.
The series includes certified models:
- The first contains a serial port profile (SPP) for Bluetooth classic and GATT profile for BLE. SPP is a common profile for serial communication applications and GATT profile enables all Bluetooth communications with other modules through the GATT layer in the module by using a simple text command.
- The second model replaces the GATT direct access profile with Fujitsu’s embedded firmware that allows simple text-based commands via UART to control all Bluetooth commands and parameters while simplifying a customer’s firmware development.
