Electric car startup Lucid has announced it will reveal the production vehicle of its first electric vehicle (EV) called Lucid Air in April during a global event held in New York.
The company has also opened reservations for early production vehicles.
Lucid said it is building 80 beta prototypes of the Lucid Air that will be used for testing as the company tunes software for traction and stability control, braking and steering systems; performs body and chassis durability testing; and confirms crash simulations with actual tests.
Construction of its new factory in Casa Grande, Arizona, is underway and by the end of February the structural steel will be in place and installation production equipment will happen later. Lucid expects the first pre-production cars to roll off the assembly line in the fourth quarter of this year with full production taking place by the end of 2020.
