Dialog Semiconductor plc has signed a strategic agreement to license Flex Logic’s embedded field programmable gate array (eFPGA) technology for use in high volume ICs.
The EFLX does not serve as a standalone chip but is integrated into SoCs, microcontrollers and other standard or custom ICs. The EFLX cores can be used to upgrade I/O protocols, change encryption algorithms to improve security, enable elements of software-defined radio or accelerate data center algorithms, Dialog said.
As part of the agreement, Dialog will also get access to the EFLX Compiler that takes the output of a synthesis tool such as Synopsys Synplify and handles packing, placement, routing, timing and bitstream generation.
According to the companies, this is the beginning of a long-term relationship with more product roadmaps to come in the future.
