Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has introduced a new line of smart home devices.

The SmartThings line includes a security camera, a smart light bulb and Wi-Fi plug, all of which do not need a hub or a standard smart speaker such as Amazon Alexa, Google Home or ApplePod. However, they can be connected if consumers want to.

The SmartThing Cam uses full HD, high dynamic range (HDR) wide-angle video with object detection — users can see the home from anywhere using the SmartThings app. It can also distinguish between people and the motion of pets or a passing car. The camera has a 145° view with night vision as well as two-way audio built-in for communication through a smartphone.

The SmartThings smart bulb can be dimmed and controlled either through the app or through voice assistants. Users can also create personal settings, such as dimming the lights for events or scheduling them to turn on after arriving home in the dark.

Finally, the Wi-Fi smart plug can make nearly every lamp, small appliance or electronics device connect to the internet with voice control support.
