Three UK has announced that it will launch its 5G service in August, with 5G broadband made available in London.
Before the end of the year, Three said it will launch both mobile and home broadband offerings in 25 U.K. cities including Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh, Birmingham and many others. Three said it would be giving details about handsets and pricing in July.

Three will launch its service after telecom EE launched its service last month and Vodafone announced plans to go live with its 5G network in seven U.K. cities in July. However, Three said it has twice as much 5G spectrum as its competitors and claims it will have peak mobile speeds two times faster than other network operators.
Three said it anticipates U.K. consumers will use 13 times more mobile data by 2025 than they are using today. However, initially Three will only be supporting 5G home broadband by plugging it into a wall and immediately connecting to the live 5G network.

In the next three years, Three said it will cover about 80% of its network traffic, with upgrades to its 4G network part of its $2 billion investment to deliver up to 400% improvements in speed and capacity. The upgrades to 4G will include additional spectrum and converting 3G to 4G
