Maxim Integrated Introduces Dual Channel, 0-76V Current Sense Amplifier

17 March 2018

A new dual-channel current sense amplifier (CSA) was introduced by Maxim Integrated. The MAX40201 has an input offset voltage (VOS) of less than 12 µV and it is capable of swinging short of VDD by only a few millivolts — almost to rail-to-rail. Its maximum gain error is less that 0.1 percent. These specifications provide high accuracy for mission-critical applications.

The two-channel CSA enables high-precision measurements in a tiny package, ideal for use in patient monitoring devices. Vos less than 12 µV and gain error less than 0.1 percent input common-mode voltage range from 0 to 76 V with 80 kHz of small-signal bandwidth provides versatility for a wide range of signals.

Some other features include:

  • Voltage outputs with accuracy down to tens of millivolts provide confidence at low currents
  • Flexible bandwidth gain options from 25 V/V up to 200 V/V
  • 1.3 mm x 2 mm 8-bump water-level packaging (WLP) and 8-pin µMAX® packages minimize board space
  • Operating temperature range: -40° to 125° C

Applications:

  • Base stations and communication equipment
  • Industrial control and automation
  • Power management systems
  • Server backplanes
