The 5200 SATA SSDs. Source: MicronMicron Technology Inc. has launched a new series of SATA solid state drives (SSDs) built on the company’s 64-layer 3D NAND technology targeted at the enterprise segment.
The 5200 series offers improved performance for business-critical virtualized workloads that cripple on hard drives such as OLTP, BI/DSS, VDI, block/object and media streaming. Micron says the SSDs offer a performance and capacity upgrade to data centers and servers while not busting the budget on cost.
The 5200 SSDs offer up to 99.7 percent better QoS when compared to a mission-critical hard disk drive while offering capacities up to 7.68TB and delivering up to 95k IOPS random reads and 33,000 random writes. The series offers a mean time to failure of 3 million device hours and are hot-swappable, easy to install and take a few minutes to configure, Micron says.
The SSDs are available now for OEM qualification and available from Micron’s distributors.
