The winner of Standard Motor Products’ “Tech Star” Challenge is Matthew Cranford of Zubalon, NC., whose video entry describes how to quickly induce a lean/rich condition in order to check o2 or air/fuel sensor function.
Cranford will receive a trip for two to SMP's training center in Irving, TX, where he will record three installation videos with the company’s Director of Training, Ryan Kooiman. Those videos will reside on Standard’s YouTube Channel, which has more than four million views and more than 5,700 subscribers. Cranford also won $5,000 toward the purchase of video equipment and automotive tools to start his own YouTube channel.
Contest applicants uploaded videos of their best one-minute tech tips to YouTube and added the hashtag #StandardTechStar. Members from SMP's award-winning training department judged the tech tips on originality, presentation and quality.
In addition to its grand prize winner, two second-place prize winners received $1,500 to use toward the purchase of automotive tools and video equipment; and five third-place winners were awarded GoPro Hero4 cameras.
