Sensirion AG has launched the SHT35 humidity sensor, which it characterizes as the most accurate device in the company's SHT3x series, and which purportedly outperforms all similar sensors currently available.Operating over the -40° C to 125° C temperature range, the SHT35 measures relative humidity (RH) to within 1.5 percentage points (compared to ±3% RH for the low-end SHT30 sensor and ±2% RH for the mid-series SHT31). The new sensor also measures temperature with an accuracy of ± 0.2° C (a tolerance matched by the SHT30; the SHT31 offers a ± 0.3° C temperature tolerance).
SHT35 functionality includes enhanced signal processing, two distinct and user-selectable I2C addresses and communication speeds of up to 1 MHz. A configurable alert function permits using the SHT35 sensor in a humidity and temperature watchdog role. The DFN package can be integrated into a broad variety of applications thanks to its compact 2.5 mm x 2.5 mm x 0.9 mm size and a wide 2.4 V to 5.5 V supply voltage range. Sensirion considers the devices in the SHT3x series to be suitable for a range of applications including home appliances, medical equipment, Internet of Things devices, HVAC systems and industrial controls.
The SHT3x series is based on the company's CMOSens-branded technology, which integrates the sensing element and associated read-out electronics onto a single chip, enabling high production volume at an exceptional price/performance ratio.
