An initial diagnosis circuit to detect latent faults in the failure detection circuits is also incorporated to secure higher functional safety.

Toshiba has also carried out a range of functional safety analyses to simulate various system failures and will provide customers with documentation such as FMEDA, to support safety analysis and design.

Key features include:

  • Failure detection circuits for functional safety
  • Diagnosis circuit for failure detection circuits for functional safety
  • Built-in fail-safe relay pre-driver circuits
  • Under voltage operation
  • Pre-driver operation is selectable on failures detection.

The TB9081FG features 11 channels, three each high side and low side and five fail-safe side channels, a voltage range of 4.5 to 18V and operating temperature range of -40 to 125°C. Detection circuits include VB over/under, VCC over/under, over temperature detection circuits and short detection circuits. It is packaged in an LQFP64-P-1010-0.50E (12.0mm × 12.0mm × 1.6mm).

Sample shipments will start on September 1st, 2015, with mass production scheduled to start in August 2017.
