Texas Instruments (TI) has unveiled a new series of advanced tools in WEBENCH Power Designer, which is designed to put tools to create power supplies for industrial, automotive and communications equipment in the hands of experienced engineers.
TI's free WEBENCH tools typically are easy to use for novices and highly experienced designers. The three new advanced WEBENCH tools target experienced power-supply design engineers that require extensive control over complex designs and ease in exporting simulations to computer-aided design (CAD) platforms from Altium and Cadence Design Systems, Inc.
New advanced options in WEBENCH Visualizer include a set of easy-to-use controls to specify such complex requirements as manufacturability, component constraints and design control. A major challenge in power supply design is an unstable control loop. The Compensation Designer tool predicts and automatically corrects errors in the control loop resulting in a stable power-supply design.
The WEBENCH Simulation Export tool moves the power-supply schematic into the user's preferred simulation environment, while WEBENCH Power Designer quickly exports the complete design to the TINA-TI simulator or Altium Designer and Cadence OrCAD and PSpice tools.
