Video: Modular droid turns into a scooter, box picker and more

21 January 2026

At CES 2026, Hyundai demonstrated its mobile eccentric droid (MobED) featuring various configurations that can be used for a variety of functions.

MobED was introduced at CES 2025 but just as a developmental robot. At CES 2026, Hyundai showed what it can be turned into. This includes:

  • Autonomous golf caddy
  • Personal scooter
  • Logistics picker

And this is just the beginning, as Hyundai said the modular robotic system could be turned into virtually any robotic helper and is offering customers a variety of options for the platform. The base is the same in each configuration, a four-wheel, full range of motion platform that is then swapped out with different options depending on the use.

In the video, a four-wheeled robot grabs a box, moves it to a carrying platform and then delivers it to a different spot where it deposits it to the ground. In another demonstration, Hyundai showed how the platform can be used as a scooter with a posture-control system that allows it to drive over uneven ground or even up and down slopes.
