Global distributor Avnet Inc. has consolidated its compute design and manufacturing business into a new company called Tria Technologies.

The company will include embedded compute boards, systems and associated design and manufacturing services at Avnet. The goal is to provide OEMs an opportunity to own chip-down manufacturing to part- or full-pre-made embedded compute platforms, the company said.

Tria Technologies will design and manufacture standard embedded compute products as well as make custom designs for customer projects. These products will accelerate projects from design to mass production, Avnet said.

These modules could be used “as-is” in a design or as a starting point for use.

“As more OEMs look to offload risk and outsource complex manufacturing, they are moving to a modular approach with minimal compromise in size or capability,” said Phil Gallagher, CEO of Avnet. “Avnet, through Tria, is uniquely positioned to help customers deliver on this strategy.”
