Embedded World 2024: Infineon unveils ML optimized MCUs

05 April 2024

Infineon Technologies AG has introduced a family of microcontrollers specifically targeted for machine learning applications.

The devices will be unveiled at Embedded World 2024 and feature three MCUs with a range of memory options depending on the application. Each of the PSOC Edge MCU series is supported by design tools and software to bring the devices to ML-enabled internet of things (IoT), consumer and industrial applications.

The microcontrollers are based on the Arm-Cortex-M55 with Helium DSP support. The devices are paired with Arm Ethos-U55, Cortex-M33 and Infineon’s low-power NNLite hardware accelerator. All three of the devices in the series support peripheral sets, on chip memory and hardware security features.

Connectivity options include USB HS/FS with PHY CAN, Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, BTBLE and Matter. The MCUs support voice/audio sensing for activation and control.

Target applications for the PSOC Edge series include:

  • Human-machine interface in appliances
  • Smart home
  • Robotics
  • Security systems
  • Wearables
  • Industrial

Embedded World 2024 takes place April 9-11 in Nuremberg, Germany.
