To expand its presence in what it claims is a $10 billion timing market, SiTime has acquired clock products from Aura Semiconductor and licensed all its clock intellectual property (IP).
The deal, valued at $148 million, will accelerate SiTime’s roadmap to provide communications and datacenter users with differentiated timing devices. In the four years since its IPO, SiTime said it has grown from 60 to 150 timing products. The acquisition will grow its category of clock ICs by 20 and another 20 by the end of 2024.
Prior to this deal, SiTime said users had to deal with separate clock and oscillator vendors. Now, the company will offer both categories for the core markets of communications, datacenter and artificial intelligence.
As part of the transaction, SiTime is opening an office in Bengaluru, India, with an engineering and support team there.
