SiTime and Daishinku Partner to Proliferate MEMS Timing and Control Market

17 November 2015

SiTime Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of MegaChips Corp., has entered into a strategic partnership with quartz crystal device maker Daishinku Corp. in order to grow the microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) timing and control markets.

Under the partnership, Daishinku will sell SiTime’s MEMS timing devices under its own brand into growing markets such as the Internet of Things (IoT), wearable devices and telecom. The agreement also calls on Daishinku to collaborate with SiTime to enhance its MEMS timing device roadmap with new products that will also play into these growing markets.

Rajesh Vashist, CEO of SiTime, says 2015 has been a transformational year for the MEMS timing market and claims SiTime is the only company that is solely focused on MEMS timing. Vashist adds SiTime is “years ahead of our competition” and its products “are being used in behavior-changing wearable, mobile and consumer electronics” devices.
