Analog semiconductors remain a critical component of all digital-centric systems. These ICs are integrated into consumer, computing, communications, automotive and industrial/medical systems to extend battery life in portable devices or manage power consumption in other segments.
The top 10 companies in the analog market accounted for $35.4 billion in analog IC sales and represented about 62% of the total $57.0 billion analog market last year, according to new research from IC Insights.

Source: IC InsightsTexas Instruments (TI) remained in the top spot among analog IC makers with sales of $10.9 billion and 19% market share in the segment in 2020. In 2020, TI’s analog sales increased about $650 million, or about 6%, up from 2019. TI’s analog sales accounted for 80% of its $13.6 billion in IC sales and 75% of its $14.5 billion in total semiconductor revenue, IC Insights said.
TI plans to build a 300 mm fab in Richardson, Texas, to support future analog growth and will be located next to its existing 300 mm RFAB plant. Production at the new facility is expected to begin in 2022.
Analog Device Inc. was second among leaders even though it saw its 2020 analog sales decrease 1% to $5.1 billion for about 9% market share. Skyworks Solutions came in third place in 2020 with a focus on front-end modules and power amplifiers for handsets and smartphones, integrated system-on-package and system-on-chip devices for wireless infrastructure, power management chips, analog components, Wi-Fi and smart energy.
Infineon, ST Microelectronics and NXP were ranked fourth, fifth and sixth in 2020, respectively, and accounted for 17% of global market share.
