Avnet and ON join forces to create an IoT framework

09 February 2021

Global distributor Avnet and chipmaker ON Semiconductor are joining forces to create an internet of things (IoT) framework to simplify how devices are built.

The collaboration will accelerate the process of building an IoT-enabled device through rapid prototyping system solutions from ON Semiconductor that are preconfigured to connect to IoT application developers and service providers through the cloud.

The first supported solution is the RSL10 sensor development kit that is powered by Bluetooth Low Energy radio and an array of advanced environmental sensors. Avnet and ON offer a selection of pre-integrated hardware and software solutions with a range of connectivity options with the goal of removing as much complexity from the IoT development process as possible.

OEMs may need many new skillsets just to get an IoT project started, which can be challenging for one company including dealing with the complexity of a diverse and global supply chain required to build then deliver IoT solutions. The deal is designed to help drive innovation forward by building smarter devices to address customer needs.
