Global distributor Avnet Inc. has signed an agreement with Relayr to develop and deliver an end-to-end platform for European and American markets for the industrial internet of things (IIoT).
The agreement will combine Avnet’s design and development of custom IoT hardware with Relayr’s IIoT capabilities for solutions in the industrial space.
Avnet has been ramping up its presence in the IoT space in the past few years with new tools such as the IoT Services Suite, its IoT LTE-M Developer Board and its inclusion in Microsoft’s Azure Sphere.
Avnet said the collaboration has already yielded success for customers giving the example of Flanders Inc. that used the real-world experience of Relayr and Avnet to identify a clear roadmap in the IIoT space to accelerate a risk-free minimum viable product through Relayr’s business outcomes offerings. It allowed the company to go to market quicker and benefit from IIoT sooner.
“The complexity of integrating hardware, software and services has impeded many organizations from fully realizing the enormous growth potential of the Industrial IoT,” said Lou Lutostanski, Avnet’s vice president for internet of things. “This alliance will significantly reduce these obstacles, enabling our customers to accelerate their IIoT adoption.”
