Myriota has formed a partnership with Future Fleet International to develop a vehicle and asset tracking technology using internet of things (IoT) technology and satellite connectivity.
The NX-01 tracking solution will provide users in the agriculture, mining and logistics and transport markets with reliable and cost-effective tracking to complement traditional cellular-based GSP tracking devices in remote and isolated areas. The direct-to-orbit transmission fits the mobile asset tracking industry with its ability to transmit data without the need for terrestrial infrastructure worldwide.
The solution, due to launch in the fourth quarter of this year, will help Future Fleet save on asset tracking by more than 50% while simultaneously strengthening service, security and battery life for customers.
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, industries such as mining and long-haul transport are having difficulties with less staff on the ground than before due to social distancing restrictions. Myriota said the ability to affordably track assets is key to stability in these markets during the COVID-19 era when there is a cap on labor and companies are looking to save resources for long-term businesses.
Future Fleet develops advanced telematics for fleet management across Australia and New Zealand. The NX-01 solution will further the company’s plan to advance capabilities across fleet management with the first tracking device on Myriota’s global network.
