The IEEE Day is Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow, and members are encouraged to mark the day with events that illustrate idea collaboration within their local communities. Celebrations continue during the first half of the month, with submissions to IEEE Day photo and video contests accepted through Oct. 15.
In addition, the event’s official website is currently offering discounts on new memberships and other member resources. To acknowledge this year as the event’s 10th anniversary, the IEEE Learning Network (ILN) is offering 10 select continuing professional education courses at $10 each through the end of October. And the IEEE Day Facebook page has posted a video looking back at the growing number of IEEE Day events over the past decade, as well as numerous statistics outlining the organization’s growth. These include:
- A bump in IEEE life members, from over 26,000 to over 33,000
- A jump in student members, from over 70,000 to over 90,000
- A doubling of women in engineering, from over 9,000 to over 18,000
IEEE Day will next be celebrated on Oct. 6, 2020.
