South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix has opened a new wholly-owned subsidiary to expand its specialty business into various system semiconductor fields.
SK Hynix Systems Co., Ltd. will concentrate on technological advancement by selecting areas with high growth potential and continuity in the 200 millimeter foundry market, the company says.
The goal of the new foundry subsidiary is to strengthen its system-on-chip business for fields such as smartphones, sensors, displays, communication chips, autonomous driving and more.
“We will strengthen our process and technical service capabilities and diversify our customers to secure long-term growth potential based on profitability,” says Kim Jun-ho, CEO of SK Hynix Systems.
