New Imaging/Video Platform Combines FPGA, IP and GUI

12 July 2016

Microsemi Corporation has released a new imaging and video platform targeted at medical, industrial, automotive, defense and aerospace markets looking to add low-power camera and display features to new applications.

Combining a field programmable gate array (FPGA) mezzanine card, an intellectual property suite and a graphical user interface, the imaging and video kit allows designers to adopt a development toolset for designing with Microsemi’s FPGAs and system-on-chip FPGAs.

While offering a low-power feature, data security and reliability, the platform also includes a flexible image sensor interface for designers looking to use programmable logic devices in applications such as drones, machine vision, robotics, infrared cameras, head-up display, target acquisition systems, medical imaging, surveillance and automotive imaging.

Other features of the platform include a display interface for 7:1 low-voltage differential signaling, HDMI connections and an audio processor. Microsemi says future development sensor boards will offer other interfaces, such as a Mobile Industry Processor Interface, camera serial interface and high-speed serial pixel.
