GF, Infineon sign multi-year automotive IC deal

23 January 2024

A new multi-year agreement has been reached between pure-play foundry GlobalFoundries and Infineon Technologies AG to supply the semiconductor vendor with a supply of its Aurix TC3x 40 nanometer automotive microcontrollers.

The agreement also will include a secure supply of power management and connectivity solutions. The additional capacity begins this year and will last through 2030, the companies said.

“With this long-term agreement, Infineon further strengthens the supply of semiconductor solutions that are driving decarbonization and digitalization,” said Dr. Rutger Wijburg, COO of Infineon. “As demand continues to accelerate for automotive applications, our goal is to deliver high-quality microcontrollers with enhanced connectivity and advanced safety and security.”

The Aurix MCU family is Infineon’s flagship device that vendors are using for autonomous, connected and electrified vehicles.
